The Wellington by Blue Orchid Hotels

Booked as a business stay. Lovely central hotel and so peaceful yet 10 mins walk to key sights. The room itself was very small so if you had large luggage and 2 people it would have been a squeeze but for just me and hand luggage it was fine. Nice double shower and large bathroom. Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was plentiful. It is a quirky layout and although I was on the 5th floor, the lift only went to the fourth and then you had to go up stairs. It is like a bit of a maze inside with different levels, however this is likely due to the age of the building and staff were helpful in carrying luggage and helping me to find my room.

Excellent location, just a short walk from some of London’s main landmarks. The staff were friendly and polite. The room and bathroom were very clean and serviced daily, which we really appreciated. Breakfast could use a bit more variety, and the windows only opened slightly due to restrictors, but overall we had a pleasant stay.

More in detail: On this date of stay (October 3-7, 2025), the second breakfast room was either under renovation or this is just a reflection of the chaos that they experience in the morning offering breakfast to their guests. Felt like no organization, lots of waiting and no clear team collaboration to sit guests down at a table. Other passengers around us were also complaining and frustrated. Breakfast area is very busy and small. In addition, in repurposing a old building (my guess) they have such odd and irritating mazes to get to your room, with multiple sets of stairs and elevators only taking you so far.

The Wellington by Blue Orchid was a good spot for our quick London trip! The service and staff were super professional and nice! The only thing we didn't like was the food smell in our room, which was a bummer, but other than that, everything else was good.

Our room was clean and comfortable and I loved the shower, though it's a big step down getting out of that tub. The hotel is a bit of a maze to find your way around inside but the staff was always exceptionally gracious and helpful. We had a meal in the lounge, just pizza and sandwiches, but it was tasty and fresh. It's a manageable walk to Victoria coach station, if you're taking a tour, or the subway if you're headed anywhere else. The Victoria station has retail and restaurants and there are pubs and other restaurants nearby too.

Beautiful, clean hotel within a 15 minute walk of Westminster Abbey and Wicked. Close to the tubes, as well. The room was spacious with a tub in the bathroom! Lots of channels on the tv. A full bar and food options downstairs in the lobby. Great seating outside in the courtyard. The only major complaint we had was that the bed was hard as rocks. The most firm mattress we’ve ever slept on.

Quite recently I worked in offices quite close to the Wellington but was quite unaware of it. Recently I spent the evening here at a "wake" for a dear friend. We had a lovely private dining room and exceptionally good service and enjoyed sharing happy memories of our friend. I would happily book a stay here if I wanted a central London stay and I understand the hotel measures up to the quality of its staff. Without sight of the rooms, only 4 stars, but I strongly suspect, they would earn the 4th star.

Excellent location and the staff is very accommodating. We are here in November and have been in two different rooms and the rooms are so HOT we can barely sleep. Upper floor windows only open 6 inches, not nearly enough to cool off the room. Lower floor windows have no screens or anything to keep someone from just climbing in our room, so we can’t open it at all. Thermostat only goes down to 19 degrees Celsius but it is WAY hotter than that in the rooms. No air conditioner coming on….I’m laying here dying.
